Joe “Hiden” Biden to meet with V.P. Dick Cheney, which reminds me of another issued I wanted to bring up – Why do presidents still live in the White House?

Why does the President of the United States live in the White House? This may have made sense two centuries ago. But these days, why would you want to live in someone else’s space for 4-8 years? The whole notion is very “Queen Elizabeth.” Maybe it’s a security issue. But still, security is being paid for regardless of the President’s location. The Royals live in the castle. Obama could certainly afford a nice house in upscale DC to entertain world leaders. If we are all created equal, why can’t he at least get a limo ride to work every day from his own temporary DC pad? This is what Senators do. This is what CEOs do. The only other occupation I can think of that sometimes requires living “on site” for the job is the president of a university. Keep the White House around for stately purposes. A democracy isn’t built on the ideals of a ruling King.

Vice President-elect Joe Biden is scheduled to meet Thursday with Dick Cheney, whom he has said is probably “the most dangerous vice president we’ve had” in U.S. history.
